World Chairman & Ambassador at Large, International Human Rights Commission (IHRC)

Dr. Mohammed Sahid Amin Khan is a distinguished international diplomat, humanitarian, and human rights advocate who serves as the World Chairman and Ambassador at Large of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC).

The IHRC is an intergovernmental organization with its headquarters in Islamabad and liaison presence in Geneva, Switzerland. The IHRC has operational networks across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. Under Dr. Khan's leadership, the Commission has grown into a formidable voice for the protection of human dignity, the promotion of the rule of law, and the defense of vulnerable populations in conflict-affected regions.

Dr. Khan's tenure as World Chairman has been marked by a commitment to proactive diplomacy. He leads high-level delegations to the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva and New York, where he engages with the UN Human Rights Council and other multilateral institutions. His diplomatic engagements focus on strengthening international cooperation for human rights protection, peacekeeping, and humanitarian assistance.

One of the landmark initiatives under his chairmanship is the IHRC World Summit on Human Rights, an annual gathering that brings together heads of state, diplomats, civil society leaders, and human rights defenders to deliberate on pressing global challenges. The 7th Edition of the Summit, convened in Geneva in June 2023, was executed under an eight-member high-level management council chaired by Dr. Khan himself, underscoring his central role in shaping the Commission's global agenda.

In the realm of international recognition, Dr. Khan is known for conferring honors that celebrate service to humanity. In 2011-2012, he presented the International Peace Award and lifetime membership of the IHRC to Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), at a ceremony in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The award recognized Prof. Ihsanoglu's contributions to democracy, good governance, freedom of expression, women's empowerment, and the establishment of the OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission.Beyond diplomacy, Dr. Khan is deeply invested in humanitarian action. In partnership with the Senior Deputy Chairman of IHRC, Ambassador Dr. Abu Zein, he has championed large-scale charity and relief projects, including the adoption and construction of homes for orphaned girls in Gaza, Palestine. His public philosophy is encapsulated in his own words: "My diplomacy is not for IHRC; it stands for humanity, even I am ready to give my life instead of one drop of the blood of innocent children."

In 2024, he presided over the conferment of the Global Leaders Award on Ambassador Dr. Abu Zein in Accra, Ghana, in a ceremony attended by diplomats and dignitaries from across the world, recognizing unparalleled contributions to human rights activities.

Dr. Khan's vision remains consistent: a world where fundamental rights are safeguarded, where vulnerable populations are empowered, and where sustainable peace is achieved not through power, but through dialogue, cooperation, and unwavering humanitarian action. Through his leadership of the Africa HQ IHRC and its expanding chapters across the African continent, he continues to challenge structural injustices and advocate for a more equitable international order.
