IHRC Calls for Action Against Lakurawa Sect in Nigeria

The International Human Rights Commission, has issued a pressing call to action regarding the emergence of the Lakurawa sect in Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi States. This group’s violent activities have raised concerns about public safety, stability, and economic progress in the affected areas.

The Lakurawa sect has been recruiting youth and individuals facing economic hardship through social media and local networks. Their actions have led to attacks on civilians, confrontations with law enforcement, and disruptions to local businesses and agriculture.

The IHRC urges federal and state governments, traditional and religious leaders, security agencies, and civil society to work together to combat this issue. By collaborating and committing to justice and peace, we can overcome the challenges posed by the Lakurawa sect.
